Fraternity & Sorority Fire Safety Education is a program coordinated through a partnership between the Champaign Fire Department, Urbana Fire Department, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, and Private Certified Housing.
The program consists of an in person (chapters with certified houses only) educational component. All chapters will be required to have a representative (see below) complete the training course. In addition, chapters with certified houses will be required to schedule a fire safety presentation and conduct a fire drill in coordination with their respective fire department/city officials.
- Certified House – The chapter maintains a facility that has been granted as a Certified status through Private Certified Housing.
- In-Person Education: The chapter will be required to host a Fire Safety Education Session coordinated and presented by their respective city’s fire department. For Champaign properties, Neighborhood Services will directly contact chapter presidents, and for Urbana properties, the Urbana Fire Department will directly contact chapter presidents to setup the training sessions.
