Fall 2022 Summary Report
Background & Summary Stats
The Chapter Semester Report is sent out to all organizations in Black Greek Council, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council and United Greek Council at the end of every semester with the purpose of collecting data about the chapters and collectively, the councils.
- 79 chapters responded to the chapter semester report survey for Fall 2022.
- 6 Black Greek Council
- 30 Interfraternity Council chapters
- 23 Panhellenic Council chapters
- 20 United Greek Council chapters
- 4,890 members total in reporting chapters.
Philanthropy & Service
Philanthropy and community service are a foundational pillar of fraternities and sororities.
- 234 philanthropic events were hosted in Fall 2022
- Total service hours: 16,756 hours
- Total amount of philanthropy dollars raised: $137,493.47

- Panhellenic Council Philanthropy Total: $67,347.88
Member Development Programming
Member development and member engagement are important to the relationships of members and their organizations.
- 367 membership development programs coordinated in Fall 2022
- Most common program topics: professional development & career readiness as well as leadership development.
- Other programs: financial management, diversity and inclusion, etiquette, current social issues, and lifelong membership.
- 70% of United Greek Council chapters hosted professional development & career readiness programming.
- 50% of Black Greek Council chapters hosted programming events that included lifelong membership topics.
Risk-Prevention Programming
Risk-prevention remains a top priority of fraternities and sororities on and off campus.
- 198 risk-prevention programming events were hosted in Fall 2022
- Alcohol Use, Sexual Assault Prevention, and Hazing were the most discussed topic programs.
- Other programs including: Covid-19, eating disorders/body image, eating, mental health, drug use & abuse, and campus safety.
- In the Panhellenic Council 65% of chapters provided programming on alcohol-use to their members as well as 47% of chapters in the Interfraternity Council.
Chapter Recognition
Chapter recognition is an important component of chapter operations to ensure that members feel appreciated in their organizations.
- 428 total strategies of chapter recognition were reported.
- 80% of chapters in the four councils incorporated recognition in chapter meetings as a member recognition strategy.
- Other strategies used: public recognition, chapter points, mentorships, monetary incentives or scholarships, awards, and other rewards such as gift cards.
- Over 60% of chapters in Panhellenic Council as well as the Interfraternity Council use points to recognize members who are going beyond expectations et in individual chapters.
Academics
- Academic Programming: Academic programming events emphasize the importance of and offer strategies to achieve academic success.
- 153 total academic programming events hosted in Fall 2022
- 81% of chapters hosted academic programming where they focused on study skills.
- Other programs: time management and test taking.
- Black Greek Council as well as Interfraternity Council has 67% of their chapters that teach members about time management strategies.

- Academic Resources: Fraternities and sororities work hard to ensure that they are providing their members with the necessary resources to excel academically.
- 206 total academic resources were utilized in Fall 2022
- 87% of chapters utilized chapters designating study spaces for members.
- Other resources utilized: reducing social privileges, creating personalized academic plans, offering subsidized tutoring and academic mentor programs.
- Panhellenic Council has 91% of chapters that designated chapter “study spots” for members to use to complete homework or other academic tasks.
- Academic Recognition and Accountability: When asked about their scholarship plan, the organizations detailed their specific strategies they utilize to help strong performers continue to achieve, and to support members who are struggling.
- In all councils, many chapters offer scholarships provided by the organizations’ nationals, as well as chapter-sponsored scholarships.
- Other strategies used: incentivizing academic achievements with gift cards, study tables or groups, social media, and chapter “shoutouts” for high achieving members, mentorship programs between all members, using chapter points as an academic incentive (e.g., GPA and A’s earned factoring into chapter points totals).
- In the Black Greek Council community, 83% of chapters provide members with a personalized academic plan to help support members academics.
